#TeachTheWeb: An Amazing Experience be a Firefox Student Ambassador

        Globalization make increasingly rapid development of information technology and as blending into communities. Call it Internet, At present, almost every person can't escape from it. This is because information technology provides much convenience in the work of man. All equipment and computer applications virtually connected to the Internet can be used. Discussing the internet sometimes can't be separated from the name of the website that's very supportive of finding information on the Internet. Well, to be able to access the internet and explore website requires a web browser. One very famous browsers in the world is Mozilla Firefox. A browser developed by Mozilla, a non-profit company based on technology that has one mission #TeachTheWeb to the entire world community.

          Mozilla has a program for #SpreadTheLove (spreading the spirit of love) mozilla to educate the public about the website, Internet, technology and products issued by Mozilla. One of the programs is the Firefox Student Ambassador or abbreviated FSA. FSA is a mozilla program to create a community that consists of volunteers in various parts of the world with the passion in technology, mozilla product and web literacy.

STARTING FROM INTEREST IN OPEN SOURCE TECHNOLOGY

           In 2012, I became a college student in Indonesia, it's State University of Padang, exactly in the city of Padang, West Sumatra. Interest in the world of the organization make me sign a few organizations on my campus, but until the middle of 2012 I haven't found that in accordance with my passion. Until the end of 2012, a new community-based organization called POSS-UNP (The Center for Utilization of Open Source Software in State University of Padang) do Open Recruitment. POSS-UNP website can be accessed here http://poss.unp.ac.id

            POSS is a community of open source software lovers to learn together about the technology of open source software in my college as well in the area of ​​Padang. I decided to be part of the community because it fits with my passion and my department in the field of Information Technology. Every week I actively participated in the POSS-UNP who often conduct training and workshops about Open Source Software, Web Technology, Programming, Networking and Multimedia. POSS-UNP also introduced me to some people on campus who have a passion in the field of Open Source Software and has a deep knowledge of the Open Source Software. Call it, the Founder of POSS-UNP, Erdiawan Anna until lecturers and experts in the field of it. Until February 2013, POSS UNP has held many activities until an activity #MozVisitasiPDG by Mozilla and POSS UNP was asked to host.

6 Februrary 2013, POSS UNP arrival of two guests who are Mozilla Representative with International experience is Yofie Setiawan and Prima Yogi. He is part of an active Indonesian Mozillian that spread the spirit of mozilla to indonesian communities. He told a lot of experience about being Mozilla Representative, about Mozilla products, and web browser technology. In addition, he also tells about Firefox Student Ambassador who is one of Mozilla program to spread the spirit of #TeachTheWeb and #SpreadTheLove about Mozilla products. I think, that's a good opportunity to further explore the web technology, sharing and improve my organization and leadership skills.

Until finally I decided to enroll into Firefox Student Ambassador (FSA) via the FSA website with links https://www.mozilla.org/en-US/contribute/studentambassadors/.

Requirements to become FSA is easy, namely:

1. It has been 18 years old (18 years and above)

2. lecturers, students or Admininstrator Universities

            On February 2013, I was officially registered as the FSA. After registering through the website, then we will get an email stating that we have become a FSA registered.

AN ORDINARY JOURNEY

Ever since I became FSA actively participated in various campaigns undertaken by Mozilla As #Firefox 10th Year Photo, #FoxYeah Contest, #Firefox for Windows 10 #Firefox Friends and etc. In addition, the FSA also provides Office Hour with various themes and discussions related to the mozilla product, web and open source technologies.

        Some campaign mozilla done online and offline. In addition to the campaign, Mozilla also frequent meetings managed by Mozilla representative in Indonesia. the meeting there are online and offline. As I also join the Official Firefox Student Ambassador group on Facebook which consists FSA from various countries in the World and share information about web technologies. In addition to Facebook, I also joined the FSA group on Whatsapp and Telegram group together several Mozilla Representative of Indonesia.

            This gives a lot of experience, exchange ideas with people of different backgrounds, countries and skin color but has the same spirit and purpose of spreading the spirit of open source and web technologies and mozilla products.

            Being FSA also brought together and introduced me to a lot of great people who have a passion in the field of technology. Like Muhammad Fadhil, he is Mozilla Representative (ReMo) from Education University of Indonesia. He is one of the active ReMo held activities in Java along with the FSA and other ReMo. His passion is in the field of open source software.

            In 2014, I received a swag of Mozilla shipped directly from the USA that two T-Shirt. This is an appreciation to all FSA active in many countries. I also join the UNP Firefox Club, a community that deploy Open Source technology and Mozilla on my campus State University of Padang. UNP Firefox Club was founded by Erdiawan Anna (Founder POSS-UNP).             Until early 2015, I have participated in various activities held Mozilla that gives impact to the educational institutions themselves and society. "A little more, but make sense". In early 2015, I also received a Letter of Identification as Firefox Student Ambassador from Vice President of Recognition Mozilla namely Biraj Karmakar, he is also a ReMo from India.
